FAQ

Q1: Why indoor and outdoor high gloss powder will tarnish?

A1:

●When customers use our powder coating, due to the poor sanitation and cleanness of key parts such as powder spraying room, spray gun, fluidizing barrel, etc., the new powder is interfered in the use process, resulting in the phenomenon of light loss.

●Powder coating in the oven over the specified time and temperature, there will be surface loss of light.

●Between each batch and batch, when the new powder and the recycled powder are mixed, the surface loss of light is easy to occur.

●The storage time of powder should not be too long. If the storage time is too long, the luster will change or even lose luster.

●The interference of transparent powder to other powder is very big. If transparent powder is used in the construction process, it must be cleaned and sanitary.

●The powder produced by different manufacturers is mixed with each other, and the powder coating will lose luster due to mutual interference.

●Some customers have poor site environment, and there are paint spraying lines around, or some customers share the same drying path with paint spraying line and powder spraying line, because some volatile gases in the paint will also cause the loss of gloss of the coating film.

In view of the above reasons for the loss of light, the general one is to thoroughly clean the environment and spraying equipment at the production site. Before production, clean up the equipment with new powder and start the normal production line again.

Q2: Why does satin and matte powder have a rising luster?

A2:

●In the process of using matte powder coating, when it is mixed with other planes, the gloss of the coating will be increased easily due to the high gloss powder.

●If the curing temperature of the powder coating is too low or the time is not enough, the gloss of the coating will change.

In case of any of the above problems, it is recommended that the customer do a good job of cleaning before production. If it is the reason of baking temperature, it is recommended that the customer test the furnace temperature for production.

Q3: Why does the paint film change color?

A3:

●There is residual pretreatment liquid on the surface of the coating

●If the baking time is too long, or the baking temperature is too high, the coating will turn yellow, especially the indoor powder coating.

●Other powder coatings are mixed in the spraying process

●The pigment of powder coating itself is not resistant to high temperature or the resin is prone to yellowing.

For the above problems, we can

●The customer improves the pre-treatment process and completes the pre-treatment.

●Strictly follow the curing temperature and time given by the factory for production.

●Strengthen the sanitation before spraying.

●Replace qualified powder coating.

Q4: Why there are particle lumps on the coating surface?

A4:

●The surface of the coated workpiece is not clean.

●Uneven powder supply and poor spray gun atomization during spraying

●The powder coating is too fine or the powder is wet and agglomerated, which makes the spray gun powder

●The spraying site is not clean

●There are particles in recycled powder or powder coating

●There is pollution, dust and oil gas floating to the surface of the paint film in the drying channel

For the above problems, we can

●Improve the quality of workpiece base material, and sandblast if possible.

●Adjust the air pressure and check that the deflector is adjusted to the best point.

●Control the particle size distribution of the powder. Take good care of the powder to prevent moisture.

●Clean the site and purify the air.

●After passing the sieve, the recovered powder shall be mixed with the new powder in proportion, or the qualified powder shall be replaced.

Q5: Why there are shrinkage holes on the surface of the film?

A5:

●The pre-treatment of the workpiece is not in place, and there is oil residue.

●The compressed air contains oil, water, etc., resulting in powder pollution.

●Contaminated by dust or other impurities.

●The powder coating itself is polluted.

For the above problems, we can

●Strengthen the pretreatment process control.

●Check the air tank and air compressor regularly, and discharge the oil and water in the air tank in time.

●Thoroughly clean the site environment and keep the drying channel clean.

Q6: Why does the spray surface leveling problem or orange peel appear?

A6:

●Rough surface of workpiece

●Adjustment of powder size, moisture or powder flow

●High or low curing temperature

●The coating is too thin or too thick

●Poor grounding of workpiece

●Mutual interference of different powders

For the above problems, we can

●Improve the surface finish of the workpiece

●Choose the powder coating with good leveling effect to prevent the powder from moisture

●Adjust curing temperature and time

●The thickness of powder spraying shall be controlled at 60-80 μ m, and the hangers shall be cleaned regularly

●Before spraying, the powder spraying system and site shall be cleaned strictly to avoid mixing of different types or different manufacturers of powder

Q7: Why there are pores and pinholes in the coating?

A7:

●There are pores on the surface of the coated workpiece

●The workpiece surface is not degreased and derusted thoroughly

●The conductive putty is too thick to dry completely

●The spray gun is too close to the workpiece, and the spraying voltage is too high, resulting in coating breakdown

●There is volatile gas in the drying channel

●The coating is too thick or the coating is not fully cured

For the above problems, we can

●Strengthen the surface treatment of workpieces

●Improve the pretreatment process

●Extend baking time

●Adjust the spraying process parameters

●Clean the air in the drying tunnel and check whether the insulation pipe is damaged

●Control of film thickness and curing time

Q8: Why does the whole coating fall off?

A8:

●Poor quality of base material and improper pretreatment

●Insufficient curing temperature or excessive baking

For the above problems

●Pretreatment for improvement

●Determine appropriate curing temperature and time

Q9: Why powder ascending rate is lower?

A9:

●No high voltage or insufficient high voltage of electrostatic generator

●Poor grounding of workpiece

For the above problems, we can

●Check whether the spraying equipment works normally and adjust the electrostatic voltage and air output

●Clean the hanging appliance in time to ensure good grounding

Q10: The problems of texture powder coating

A10:

●If the thickness of the coating film is not well controlled during the spraying process, such as wrinkle powder coating and antique powder coating, it is easy to expose the bottom and reduce the grain size. Normally, the thickness of the powder film must be controlled at 100-160 μ m, and these problems will not appear basically.

●Sand texture powder coating should not be sprayed too thick, too thick coating, poor mechanical properties, the surface will become rough. The thickness of sand texture powder film can be controlled between 40-50 μ M.
